In the course’s calendar you can add appointments that the students can book, e.g laborations.

It works the same way as e.g. Doodle. The advantage 8is that you get everything in Canvas and it’s a more responsible way to handle personal information.

Add a series of bookable appointments

Appointment Group.

Make sure that the course you want to add is visible in the calendar. You make the course visible by clicking on the box in front of its name so it fills with a colour.
Click on the plus-sign at the top. It’s also fine to click on the date in the calendar that you want the series to start with.
Select the tab Appointment groups. This has nothing to do with thew groups in your course, only thatv it is a group of appointments you want to add.
Write a name ´for the series and select in which course calendar it will be visible in. Add as many appointments as needed, add of there’s a limit of students at a time, if other students can see which students have selected which time and if you can book one or multiple appointments. Save at the bottom

Delete or add an appointment

To delete an appointment click on it in the calendar and select Delete

To add more appointments:

Click on an appointment in the series and on the button for details at the bottom of the pop-up window.

Three ways to see what the students have choosen

Booked appointments.

In the course’s calendar you’ll see all the bookable appointments you’ve added. The ones that students have selected is clearer in colour. Click on an appointment to se which student that have selected it. There’s a link to send a messages to the student.

Available timeslots.

Click on Agenda at the top of the calendar to se it as a list. In the list both booked and unbooked appointment are visible. You can se which student have selected which appointment.

Booked appointments list.

Click on an appointment in the series and on the button details to get to the settings. At the bottom there is a compiled list of all the booked appointments. There’s also a button to see which of the students that have booked an appointment and those who haven’t. A smooth way to remember the students that has forgotten to book.

If you want the list on paper right click and select Print or press Ctrl+P on the keyboard. You’ll also get the settings and details for the series.

How does it look for the student?

Find appointment student view.

Students that shall book an appointment goes to calendar and clicks on Find appointment so every available appointment becomes visible.

You can test this function yourself;

Add for example bookable appointments in your own sandbox-course. Go to the student view and then you can book a time. When you’ve closed the student view you as a teacher can se how it looks when the test student has booked an appointment.
