NOTE: Due to Covid restrictions travel abroad will not be possible, at least during the first half of the year 2021. However, we have data from the project that is suitable for several exciting thesis projects from wherever you are based.

Travel to Borneo and fieldwork can be funded through MFS stipends, student union/faculty stipends. For non-Swedish citizens who are not eligible for MFS stipends, IKEA has provided funding for two projects.

Examples of possible thesis topics:

-Evaluation of 34 native tree species used for enrichment planting: which to use to optimize C sequestration and/or biodiversity. (Data available)

-What is the growth potential of native rainforest trees and how is this related to their life-history traits, wood density, etc. (Data available).

-Multi-species enrichment planting: Which tree species grow well together in planting clusters? (Data available, but can be complemented with field work if possible to travel)

-Evaluation of growth and survival after enrichment planting 20 years after planting. (Require fieldwork)

-Evaluation of contribution to tree biodiversity after enrichment planting 20 years after planting. (Require fieldwork)
